Seriously, it’s been killing us to keep all the news about N+ quiet. We have really big mouths, and it’s hard to shut that down. But, finally, we’re FINALLY allowed to share the good news with everyone. N+ will be available for download for 800 points on this Wednesday, February 20th, at 9am PST. Yay!
We feel like maybe there’s not as much buzz as there could have been, but the orders to keep it all under our collective hat came from Microsoft’s marketing department, and presumably they know a lot more about this sort of thing than we do. ๐
At this point we’re completely anxious, worried that it’s too hard and no one will buy it because the graphics are so minimal and stylized (though stylish), and after struggling with the demo for the hypothetical 3 minutes you have before people get bored, they’ll give up instead of pushing on and finding their inner ninja. All we can do is hope people will see/play past all that and get incurably addicted. And then addict their friends! ๐
There are also a couple sets of really cool gamerpics and themes in the LIVE Marketplace — we would have liked to put them up for free, but this is apparently against policy. It *is* a bit frustrating: it seems silly to us that gamers have to pay for something entirely superficial and not even part of the game! In any case, we’ll try to have preview pics up on Wednesday, so at least you can see what you’ll be getting. There will also be one or two level packs coming in the future, though we don’t really know the timing for that yet.. but we figure 450 levels should keep everyone busy for a while ๐
The GDC is looking like it’s going to be great. Raigan’s got a presentation on Monday, and Mare and Nick are doing the N+ XBLA post-mortem on Tuesday, so we’ve still got some work to do.. but we can’t wait for Wednesday!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
..but really, I’m sure you’ll do well. You nearly reduced me to tears when I heard N+ was coming out. Well, almost…
… I’m sure telling everyone I can come in contact with (maybe even random people off the street ;P ) about this..
[…] February 18th, 2008 at 13:19 At long last, the game a lot of people have been waiting for has been confirmed to be coming on the 20th February, that’s this Wednesday everyone! At a price of 800 MS […]
HELL
YES!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!
i wish i could buy this game SOOO fucking badly.
you honestly have no idea. im still excited though, i’ll have to find someone with a 360, so i can play it.
i’m trying to do MY part to spread the word on the internet among friends and strangers.
BEST of luck to you all, really. N is the best game i’ve ever played. for any price.
Great news!
Can’t you do gamerpics as rewards for completing levels, like they do in for example Undertow?
I’ll wake up early Wednesday to buy it. Put my money to good use, get back to Robotology!
We didn’t know that about Undertow! Damn it.. also, it looks like some games actually do have free themes (GTA4).
One problem is that we’re in San Francisco until next Saturday, we might not be able to make it onto the leaderboards!
When will us Sublime winners (well, those of us who won with an X360 N+ map) be getting our free download codes?
The SUBLiME rules stated that winners would receive their copy within 30 days of the game’s release. We don’t think it will take anywhere near that long, but we won’t know until we actually get download codes, which can’t happen until the game is released.

Dr.coconut was right! er i was right! ๐ you can bet it will be in my account on wensday, i had to resist not buying ninja gaiden black ๐
kudos, dr. coconut!
From the video on xbox.com, i see some of the tiles we always wanted are finally there? This is a truly joyous week/day/life indeed.
[…] N+ on XBLA this Wednesday (the 20th)!! YES!!!!!!! [Metanet Blog – Thanks Michael!] […]
ARIGHT!!! YES! i love this game so much i’m definitely gonna get this when it comes out
yep, we added some of the most-requested tile shapes ๐
Noooooooo!!!!! :(. I’ve been craving this game since I played it on PAX last year, that’s 6 months of wait!!!! And now my XBox rrod’d on me =S… Guess i was lucky that it was still alive after 2 years and a half of hard gaming.
(BTW, The shirts were awesome, even my boss recognized it the minute I stepped into his office the Monday after PAX ).
Do you have the option to have the smooth follow drones as well? because I know you wanted to do that along with remove the slope stutter? Basically i’m impatient and I want a full feature list dang it. If you don’t feel like answering i’ll wait.
So my question is when will all three versions (360, DS, PSP) be available for PC, in one package! I would sell my car for it. I would take out a loan for it. Get a third job for it. Do unspeakable things with my mouth for it.
In all seriousness, you guys should be commended for creating the best platformer ever made. You took the best of Mario, Commander Keen, Sonic, Cosmo, Duke Nukem, Metroid, Jazz Jackrabbit, Crystal Caves, Vectorman, Comix Zone, Rayman, Ristar…ALL OF THEM, made a beautiful synthesis of all the good elements, and have changed platforming, in my mind, forever. And then you made it free. Thank you for two solid years of challenging me, frustrating me, and taking me to a new ecstasy in gaming. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!
thanks for playing! really, it’s the best to have other people “get” N.
there aren’t any smooth drones ๐
and we’re on our 3rd 360 after two failures… sigh.

Just summarizing:
“getting N” involves doing unspeakable things with your mouth…
yeah, I think i got that right.
is it wensday yet?
Hooray, congrats guys ๐
yeah i really cant wait for tomorrow its only 5 hours away, lets hope the leaderboards are based on how fast u can do the levels, i already know who will be first haha (that doesnt mean me)
Damn, I don’t think i’ll get any sleep tonight..
Guess I’ll have to buy an XboX to play the next version of N.. Only have a PC here ๐
fackkkkk. im so jealous of all you 360 owners!
๐
….M&R, you really need to release an HD trailer for the xbla version! really highlighting the great control, and the level variety. the viciousness of the enemies, and how brutal the death physics are!
i think that could be huge for wooing people who might otherwise avoid this game.
almost there!
just.. another.. 7 hours..
..must.. sleep…..
We have had a quick look at this excellent game at Genesis Device, take a look at the quick review from the link below.
http://www.genesisdevice.org/index.php/news/20080220440/news/gd_news/n+_xbla.html
If I get time tomorrow I will put a basic tutorial together for the level editor – how to use things and what they do.
N+ is excellent and worth every penny, I hope Robotology makes it to XBLA also.
Great work Metanet
Dare I ask if the level packs to come will cost extra???
$10 isn’t that bad of money for a game that was release free years ago. If you do decide to charge extra, I can see people (like my self) circumventing it by recreating the levels in the level editor.
Will the gamer pics and themes come free when I purchase the game? If not that’s just gay.
Anyways, I’m going to buy this. I used to play this game tons!! I’ll also be getting the PSP and DS versions.
@Relys:
Here’s what we said about the gamer pics and themes:
“There are also a couple sets of really cool gamerpics and themes in the LIVE Marketplace โ we would have liked to put them up for free, but this is apparently against policy. It *is* a bit frustrating: it seems silly to us that gamers have to pay for something entirely superficial and not even part of the game!”
We tried, HARD, to get them released for free. We hear Epic fought this battle too, and similarly lost. sigh..
The level packs prices are also governed by rules from Microsoft, but there is a percentage of “free” content we’re allowed to provide, and you can bet we’ll be taking advantage of that. We also intend to price the additional levels as low as we can. We feel your pain!
