a.k.a. TEN++ 😀
We first released N++ on PS4 10 years ago — we were exhausted from the long and difficult development, but excited about what we’d been able to achieve and learn.
We felt like we’d really done it: we’d finally made the game we had set out to create a decade earlier, when we lacked the resources and experience needed to make it perfect. Where N was a beautiful sketch, N++ is a minimalist masterpiece.
We were so proud of the way the game felt to play, and thought that the stylish graphics fit it perfectly. We continued to add to it and refine it over the years, releasing it on Steam, Xbox and Switch, and released what we thought would be the last big update, the Ultimate Edition, which essentially doubled the game’s set of built-in, handcrafted levels.
We’ll be honest: by 2018, we were very burned out, having worked tirelessly on N++ over 6 years. We took a little break — but the thing is, we always come back to making levels. Those of you who have tried it may understand; it’s just fun to do, and somehow there are always new ideas to be uncovered.
Over the years, we’ve enthusiastically watched as players from all over the world have enjoyed N++: streaming on twitch and youtube, getting together in real life to host and compete in tournaments, making huge packs of levels and releasing them for other players to enjoy, creating new sounds and colour palettes, and generally being supportive, kind, and interesting people in the N++ discord community.
It was and is always incredible to see people engaging with something you’ve made, and filling it with new life. It’s so special to connect with people over a shared love or appreciation of something, especially when it’s something so niche; we are always so delighted to see people really GET N++. We feel so lucky that there are so many of you.
And so over the years we’ve returned to making levels, and have rediscovered what is so special about this game, in part due to all of you and your enthusiasm. We wanted to thank you for playing, and for telling other people (including us!) how you feel about N++.
To celebrate TEN++, we made you a gift: a free update to N++ with our most challenging Solo, Co-op and Race levels yet, plus a handful of new colour palettes (6! They are: Anniversary, Burple, Classy, SNKRX, Ten, and Tropical).
It’s out now, on Steam, and coming soon to the rest of the platforms (sorry about this, the team working on the patch fell behind although they’ve been working on it since July, but we decided to just release the update on Steam and catch up on the consoles when it’s ready).
If you’ve been waiting for a big Steam discount to see what all the fuss is about, that’s happening now, so go for it! And tell your friends! 😉 https://store.steampowered.com/app/230270/N_NPLUSPLUS/
We hired abho, who fans might know from their stellar videos, to make a special video you should check out right now:
We hope this update will keep you playing for another ten++ years 😉
Much love,
Mare and Raigan (Metanet Software)

pps Continue the celebrations over on Etsy, with brand new and exciting (and limited edition) merch! https://www.etsy.com/shop/metanet/
Note: It’s getting pretty tricky for small businesses to ship globally due to new regulations and tariffs, so we’ve had to temporarily restrict where we sell to on Etsy while we try to figure out what’s possible. If that restriction affects you but you really want to buy something, please get in touch with us at metanetATmetanetsoftwareDOTcom!
ppps And finally, join us on twitch as we play through the new levels with fans — want to play too? We’ll be organizing that on the N++ discord, so come join us there!
